What is Electronic Circuit Coating (Conformal Coating)?
Electronic circuit coating is a method applied to the printed circuit board (PCB) to protect circuit boards and circuit elements against environmental conditions (humidity, dust, vibration, etc.) and to prevent corrosion.
So what is a PCB? PCB or Printed Circuit Board (printed circuit board) is called the plates on which the electronic circuit elements are placed and the electrical connection between these elements is provided by means of copper surfaces.
Briefly, PCBs have two important purposes;
1) Keeping electronic components together,
2) To provide electrical connection between components.
Protective coatings are designed to protect solder joints, leads of electronic circuit components, exposed traces and other metallized areas from corrosion, the conformal protective coating process extends the working life of the PCB.
To examine the methods applied in the conformal protective coating process, you can review our blog post “Protection of Electronic Cards Against Environmental Conditions”.
Why is the Use of Electronic Circuit Covering Important?
Moisture, dust, vibration, high temperature, etc. formed in the working environments where circuit boards are used. Its efficiency may decrease compared to the first use due to external factors. It is important to protect the printed circuit boards and components used in such environments. Ultimately, in order for circuit boards to work efficiently and to protect them from environmental conditions, they must be used with a protective coating process.
What are the Usage Areas of Electronic Circuit Coating?
Since the electronics industry has a rapidly developing structure in the world, the use of electronic circuit coatings in the industry is increasing in order to protect the efficiency of the circuit boards from the factors that will adversely affect it.
Electronic circuit coating chemicals are also used to prevent copying of circuit board designs. Conformal protective coatings have been developed especially for automotive, defense industry, aerospace, marine, lighting, industrial industry applications.
Pulsar Chem. Electronic Circuit Coating (Conformal Coating) Solutions
Developing special solutions on the subject, Pulsar Kimya can provide protection and camouflage against external factors with acrylic, epoxy, silicon-based chemicals and electronic cards. Some of the solutions offered in this context;
Adhetron EP 5010; It is a low viscosity epoxy resin ideal for coating, encapsulation and filling of electronic board parts. It does not contain solvents, it has high resistance to chemicals and solvents. It also has the feature of curing by baking. There is a wide variety of colors.
Adhetron UV SIL RTV 3011 / 3022; They are silicone-based UV and moisture curing products produced for coating, encapsulation and filling of electronic card parts. It is flexible and soft. Its heat resistance is between -40°C and +200°C.
Orapi 715 Vertro; It is an acrylic-based, silicone-free, transparent protective coating for electronic board circuits. It protects parts against humidity, dust and corrosive environments. Easily penetrates porous materials. It is resistant to UV rays and does not yellow. It is resistant to mineral and synthetic oils. Cures in 3 – 15 minutes depending on ambient temperature and coating thickness. Its heat resistance is between -40°C and +140°C.
