Maintenance of Conveyors with Steel Pallets

Conveyors with steel pallets are being used in almost every area of the food industry. The jamming in the feeding area with filling materials like jars or bottles before the filling process is the primary most common problem face in these conveyors.

In this case, the flow is restored manually. Manufacturers use products like soapy water or soft soap to lubricate and to overcome this situation. While this solves the problem in short term, in long term it creates different problems.

Soapy water can help the filling material move forward by creating a lubricating effect on the conveyor but the soap, (especially the soft soap) can create different problems on mid-long term in conveyors with steel pallets due to the elements it contains.

When the lubricators like soaps mixes with hard water, it creates composites like residues that do not disintegrate in water and calcium. These composites settle into the conveyors as lime residues and in time, they cause jamming and noise by entering between pin and gudgeons.

Once this residue enters between the connections, it is impossible to clean the conveyor without realising a full lime cleaning by dismantling the whole conveyor.

As we know another property of the products like soaps and detergents is the fact that they are oil solvents. These products that we use as lubricators cause conveyors to not to function properly by disintegrating or by decomposing the oils and greases.

Powertrains that were not lubricated good and correctly force motors hence cause more energy consumption. This situation may increase the expenses in an unforeseen way.
